County Commission Approves Water Line Extensions

   County leaders awarded bids for a list of water line extensions during a special session last week.

   Members of the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners propose extending water lines in the Mt. Lebanon, Thomas, Danley, Second Creek, Bonnertown and Buffalo Road areas. Funding for the project is to be obtained through the issuance of a Tennessee Community Development Block Grant. Matching funds and any additional costs are to be provided through county government.

   During the special session commissioners voted to accept the lowest bid, offered by Gene Staggs Construction. The adjusted bid came in at $59,830.

   State approval must be gained before officials may move forward with the project.
